You have put in the work to clean your spa, yet the water is still cloudy? Or perhaps you find the hot tub does not heat as it once did. Then there are the times your spa will misbehave and you are left to wonder what is at the root of it.
Since 2009 Hydrocare Pools & Spas has been putting those questions to rest for owners here in Connecticut. For an expert assessment of your equipment, one can call us at (860) 419-2063. We do business with homeowners from Torrington and Hartford on up to Greenwich and Stamford and points in between.
There is no denying the pleasure of a good hot tub or spa, but they have their share of headaches. Add in the weather we get in this state and it is only more so. Your spa is put under its paces by hard winter freezes and the demands of summer. We have set out some of the trouble local owners are apt to encounter below, to give you an idea of when to put in a call for assistance.
Cloudy or Foamy Water
We are often told about cloudy water; it is a frequent complaint. More often than not it is a matter of chemistry, though you may have difficulty determining the source. With foamy water the culprit is usually lotions, oils or detergents that have had time to accumulate.
Water quality can be compromised by any number of things:
- pH or alkalinity out of whack
- A filter in need of cleaning
- Bacteria taking hold due to insufficient sanitizer
- The soaps, cosmetics and body oils of your guests
- Circulation that is poor because the pump is having trouble
- Water that is just past its prime
With the right testing and balancing most of it is easily put right. Our people test water all over Connecticut and we can say with certainty what your spa requires rather than make guesses.
Heating Problems
It is disconcerting to get in a spa and it will not warm you up. In the cold months your equipment is put to the test and heating issues are common in Connecticut.
Be it a slow to heat spa or one that will not, there are possibilities:
- An element on the way out
- Thermostat or sensor giving you false readings
- Air in the plumbing lines
- Low flow from the pump or a clogged filter
- Electrical faults or a breaker that has tripped
While some are straightforward, electrical and heating matters can become involved in a hurry and our repair service is there for that. Jonathon DeMichiel, our founder, is a certified SP1 technician who has 30 plus years in the pool and spa business, so he is well versed in the more complicated side of repairs.
Winter and Freeze Damage
A Connecticut winter is unforgiving to a spa and the damage from a freeze is costly. Should water in your pipes or heater turn to ice it will expand and put a crack in components you would rather not replace.
The answer is to winterize properly. If the spa is not in use for the season a correct closing is the way to safeguard it. For those running theirs year round you want a plan for a power outage and equipment you can count on. We provide opening and closing services to see that you are not caught with an expensive bill.
Pump and Circulation
Cleanliness and heat depend on the pump doing its job. When it is not, you will be aware of it in the form of odd sounds, jets with little pressure or a drop in water quality despite sound chemistry.
Tell tale signs are:
- Humming or a grinding noise
- Uneven jet pressure
- Clear water that will not stay that way
- The spa turning itself off and on
Do not put off dealing with these, it will only cost more later. An early fix on circulation is money in the pocket.
Saunas
Sauna systems have their idiosyncrasies as well, from the controls to the heating elements. Hydrocare does sauna repair so you have a single company in Connecticut to deal with for both.
Calling in the Experts
You can do some of the maintenance on your own. But if the same problems present themselves or there are electrical concerns, it is better to have someone with a thorough knowledge of the system. We are not ones to put pressure on you; we will lay out the situation and let you make the call. Should a sizeable repair be in order we can arrange financing.
Our client list includes such as West Point Military Academy, Sacred Heart University and the Boston Celtics, among others. We have been serving Connecticut for more than ten years now. Give us a ring at (860) 419-2063 if your hot tub is acting up and we will have it in working order.
